Alisha Rai
Alisha Rai, a 19-year-old resident of Dalman Goan, Kalimpong, is currently pursuing her undergraduate degree at Cluny Women’s College, where she is majoring in Accountancy and is in her third semester. She is deeply committed to strengthening her academic foundation and building skills that will support her professional aspirations in the field of commerce.
​
Alongside her studies, Alisha is actively involved in community engagement and social service. She has contributed as a dance teacher during the winter coaching classes organized by the Bhalukhop Sudhar Samitee (B.S.S.), an experience that allowed her to share her passion for dance while nurturing creativity and confidence among students. She values dance as a medium of self-expression and communication, and believes it plays an important role in personal growth and leadership development.
​
Alisha joined the Trailblazer Fellowship with the goal of enhancing her professional and interpersonal skills. Through this platform, she hopes to connect with like-minded peers, gain valuable mentorship, and prepare herself to navigate future challenges with confidence and determination.

Ambika Rai
Ambika Rai, a 19-year-old from Kalimpong, is currently pursuing her undergraduate degree in Geography (Honours) at Kalimpong Government College. Known for her reflective and creative nature, she identifies as an INFP, a personality type that values empathy, imagination, and meaningful connections.
​
Beyond academics, Ambika serves as the Assistant Leader of the Little Flock House Church (LFHC), where she contributes to community activities and leadership initiatives. She is passionate about the arts, with dancing and painting being her long-time interests. Recently, she has also developed a fondness for reading novels. A self-proclaimed coffee aficionado, she enjoys the simple pleasures that accompany quiet moments of reflection.

Ambika joined the Trailblazer Fellowship with the hope of expressing herself more openly and improving her communication skills. She looks forward to engaging with peers, learning from diverse perspectives, and collaborating on meaningful projects. Ambika believes that even small efforts can create a lasting impact, and she is eager to contribute positively through her journey in the fellowship.

Ankit Rai
Ankit Rai, an 18-year-old resident of Badamtam (Tharoline), is currently pursuing his undergraduate degree in Philosophy. His fascination with the subject stems from a deep curiosity to question and understand the world beyond its surface. For Ankit, philosophy is not just an academic pursuit but a way of exploring life’s profound truths, perspectives, and the human condition itself.

Outside his academic interests, Ankit is deeply passionate about music. He practices Indian classical music through daily riyaz and also enjoys playing instruments such as the guitar, ukulele, and keyboard. Music serves as both a creative outlet and a form of introspection for him—a space where he connects with his emotions and nurtures self-discipline and balance.
​
Looking ahead, Ankit envisions a life beyond the conventional 9-to-5 framework—one that allows personal growth, creative freedom, and meaningful contribution. Through the Trailblazer Fellowship, he aims to enhance his leadership, communication, and critical thinking abilities while engaging with diverse perspectives that help him better understand the world and his place within it.

Anuj Limbu
Anuj Limbu is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Bijanbari Degree College. Deeply curious about the social and political issues that affect communities, he is driven by a desire to understand the challenges that hinder societal progress and to find practical solutions that contribute to positive change. His awareness of these problems fuels his commitment to social development and civic responsibility.
Anuj is proud to be a part of the Eastern Himalayan Foundation, where he works alongside other young changemakers to empower communities across the hills of Darjeeling and Kalimpong. Through initiatives like the Trailblazer Fellowship, he has been able to strengthen his leadership and communication skills, engage actively with his local community, and take part in projects addressing meaningful social issues.
Motivated by a strong belief in the power of collective action, Anuj aspires to inspire and uplift the youth around him. He aims to contribute to building a more aware, responsible, and hopeful generation that can shape a stronger and brighter future for the Eastern Himalayas.

Chandan Karki
Chandan Karki is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Bijanbari Degree College. Deeply curious about how the world functions, he is driven by an eagerness to learn and explore new ideas. His interests extend beyond academics—he enjoys watching documentaries, creating apps, and experimenting with various coding languages, blending creativity with critical thinking to understand the world in dynamic ways.

As a fellow of the Eastern Himalayan Foundation, Chandan works alongside young changemakers to empower communities across the hills of Darjeeling and Kalimpong. Through programs like the Trailblazer Fellowship, he has developed valuable leadership and communication skills while engaging in projects that address local social challenges.

Chandan believes that small, consistent actions can lead to significant change. Combining innovation, learning, and a strong sense of community service, he strives to inspire and uplift young people around him. His vision is to contribute toward building a more empowered and hopeful future for the Eastern Himalayas.

Drishya Gurung
Drishya Gurung, an 18-year-old resident of Gairi Goan, P.O. Tung, is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science (Honours) at Southfield College, Darjeeling, where she is in her third semester. Her academic journey has strengthened her interest in subjects such as Civil Services and Public Administration, inspiring her to understand governance and contribute meaningfully to society.

Beyond academics, Drishya is an active member of the National Service Scheme (NSS) at her college, where she participates in community-oriented activities and social initiatives. In her leisure time, she enjoys creating Mandala art, playing volleyball, and exploring her love for music—especially through the violin, which she considers a source of calm and creativity.
​
Drishya joined the Trailblazer Fellowship with the goal of gaining practical, hands-on experience and developing essential professional skills. She looks forward to working collaboratively with other young changemakers, learning from shared experiences, and contributing to community development projects that create a positive impact in the region.

Kanchan Chettri
Kanchan Chettri was born and raised in Sakyong Busty, a small village in the Pedong sub-division of Kalimpong. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the Government General Degree College at Pedong. Curious and open-minded, Kanchan enjoys reading, travelling, and engaging in selfless service to others. She is deeply motivated to gain new experiences and continuously develop her personal and professional skills.

Kanchan draws her inspiration from her father, a hardworking farmer whose dedication and perseverance have shaped her values and ambitions. Witnessing his struggles and resilience instilled in her a desire to work on issues related to agriculture and rural development—fields where she hopes to create a meaningful impact. With a strong academic inclination, she aspires to pursue a Ph.D. in the future and contribute to society through knowledge and action.

Karan Thakur
Karan Thakur is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in English (Honours) from Jorebunglow Degree College. Known for his curiosity and dedication, he is deeply interested in social work and community development. His engagement with the Eastern Himalayan Foundation has given him valuable exposure to initiatives that promote education, social awareness, and youth empowerment across the region.

Kashish Lama
Kashish Lama, a 20-year-old resident of Banarhat Choonabhutti Tea Estate, Chamurchi, is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in English (Honours) at Southfield College, Darjeeling, where she is in her third semester. Passionate about learning and personal growth, she aspires to build a career in academics and dreams of becoming a teacher dedicated to nurturing young minds and contributing to the field of education.

Beyond her academic pursuits, Kashish is actively engaged in various co-curricular activities. She enjoys playing basketball, creating art and craft, and dancing—activities that allow her to express herself creatively and maintain a balanced lifestyle. She is also an active member of the National Service Scheme (NSS), through which she participates in community service and social initiatives.

Kreetika Thapa
Kreetika Thapa is a third-semester student at Kalimpong College, currently pursuing her undergraduate degree in History Honours under the University of North Bengal. She is someone who finds joy in both life’s simple pleasures and the continuous pursuit of personal and intellectual growth.

Kreetika has always been drawn to the stories behind historical events, the complexities of civilizations, and the perspectives of those often overlooked in mainstream narratives. Studying history has broadened her understanding of society, culture, and politics while sharpening her critical thinking and analytical skills.

A firm believer in lifelong learning, Kreetika constantly challenges herself to grow—whether by setting new goals, acquiring skills, or reflecting on her experiences. Krishna Kala Mangar
Krishna Kala Mangar, a 20-year-old resident of Gyandong Busty, Pedong, is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science (Honours) at Government General Degree College, Pedong. She is an enthusiastic learner with a strong curiosity for new experiences, driven by a desire to grow both personally and academically.

Krishna’s interests are diverse, spanning dance, football, volleyball, video games, and traveling, reflecting her energetic and adventurous nature. However, her greatest passion lies in learning and exploring opportunities that broaden her perspective and skills.

Kristina Tamang
Kristina Tamang is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce at St. Joseph’s College. Known for her creative spirit, she has a deep interest in dance, art, and handcrafts, which she considers essential outlets for self-expression and personal growth.
As an introvert, Kristina joined the Trailblazer Fellowship to step out of her comfort zone, enhance her communication skills, and develop her leadership potential. She is motivated by the opportunity to engage with her community, collaborate with peers, and contribute meaningfully to social initiatives.

Mannat Subba
Mannat Subba hails from the scenic hills of Bijanbari and is known for their free-spirited nature and adventurous outlook. Passionate about traveling and exploring new places, Mannat approaches life with an open heart and a cheerful disposition, bringing positivity and laughter to those around them.

A dedicated fitness enthusiast and a lover of good food, Mannat enjoys balancing an active lifestyle with culinary adventures. Despite their varied interests, family remains at the center of their life, providing love, support, and grounding in all their pursuits.

Mickila Bhutia
Mickila Bhutia is a third-semester History Honours student at Kalimpong College, affiliated with the University of North Bengal. A thoughtful and reflective individual, she draws inspiration from observing the subtle details of people, places, and stories that often go unnoticed. Her passion for history stems from a desire to connect the past with the present and to understand how culture and community shape life in the Eastern Himalayas.

Niyati Sharma
Niyati Sharma is an undergraduate student of Mass Communication and Journalism at St. Joseph's College, Darjeeling. As a fellow at the Eastern Himalayan Foundation, she actively engages in community projects and regional storytelling, using her skills to bring local narratives to the forefront.

Pratiksha Rai
Pratiksha Rai is a third-semester undergraduate student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science at St. Joseph’s College, Darjeeling. Reegden Lepcha
Reegden Lepcha, an 18-year-old resident of Sonada, is currently in his second year of undergraduate studies at Salesian College (Autonomous), Sonada, specializing in Political Science and History. Known for his academic excellence, Reegden has consistently achieved distinction throughout his school and college years. Beyond academics, he is deeply passionate about Philosophy and local history, and enjoys reading, debating, and writing.

Sneha Chhetri
Sneha Chhetri is a 20-year-old undergraduate student from Sittong 1, Darjeeling, currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology (3rd semester) at St. Joseph’s College. She is an active member of the Scholar’s Society, a literature club, as well as the Microbiology Society of India, reflecting her engagement in both academic and creative communities.

Sneha is passionate about painting in various mediums, including watercolor, oil, acrylic, pencil, and pastel. She also enjoys literature and poetry, with a particular interest in writing poems. Her curiosity spans a wide range of disciplines, from philosophy and anthropology to quantum physics, psychology, politics, and social thought.

Sneha Sharma
Sneha Sharma, a 19-year-old resident of Rose Bank, Darjeeling, is currently pursuing a B.A. Honours in Nepali at Darjeeling Government College. Drawn to her culture and language, she believes that true learning extends beyond academics, seeing success as a combination of knowledge, experience, and personal growth.

Beyond her studies, Sneha has a strong passion for fashion, makeup, and dance. While she once considered a career as a makeup artist, she now views these creative pursuits as avenues for joy and self-expression. She also aspires to become a content creator who can inspire and positively influence others, using creativity as a tool for meaningful impact. Her personal goal is to enrich her life with knowledge, experiences, and cherished memories while making her family proud.

Upama Rai
Upama Rai hails from the small village of Ramitay and is currently pursuing a B.A. in History at St. Joseph’s College, Darjeeling. She aspires to build a career rooted in history, not only to understand the past but also to apply its lessons to the future.

Outside academics, Upama enjoys a variety of interests, including food, music, animals, reading fictional books and manga, watching movies, and spending time with her pets. Her curiosity and enthusiasm for history are fueled by the stories of individuals who started with little and went on to create meaningful change, inspiring her own ambitions.
Through the Trailblazer Fellowship, Upama hopes to develop her leadership skills, explore her potential, and grow as part of a community that values starting small but dreaming big.
