Simit Sewa
Bijanbari Degree College
B.A (English) 3rd Semester
Simit, in spite of multiple challenges of discrimination, physical injury and mental health issues, continues to challenge himself to do his best for himself & the community.
His role model is his mother (an anganwadi worker) who remained undefeated in the face of adversity. To build similar resilience in youth, he wants to start a football coaching center.
He has been publishing his poems in local newspapers and magazines. Currently he is working on a book outlining his vision for a new, more equal world. He is involved in the ‘Youth Club Boys’ which is involved in a range of activities including raising awareness on substance abuse and caste discrimination, supporting people affected by Covid, supporting underprivileged students to get educational support and iimproving the condition of roads for children to access school.
Through the Fellowship he wants to be able to work for the future generation to get better education, encourage youth towards co-curricular activities to keep them away from drugs/alcohol etc, abolish child labour and caste discrimination.
