The Challenge:

Gaps between ICDS policy and delivery can affect nutrition, health and early education services.

What we did:

Visited municipal and Panchayat-level Anganwadi Centres and engaged workers, beneficiaries and the Child Development Project Officer.

Results & Achievements:

Field observations identified greater difficulties at centres in rented premises compared with centres in their own buildings; research expanded to Panchayat-level settings.

What We Learned:

The fellows developed research skills, patience, persistence and experience engaging officials and communities.

Next Steps:

Develop the research document, undertake more field visits, engage additional stakeholders and examine the role of Panchayati Raj Institutions.
