The Challenge:

Waste in local waterways calls for community action and exploration of suitable interception systems.

What we did:

Held a clean-up at Dhobighola with Save Earth NGO, college NSS volunteers and community members; consulted Kurseong's Construction Department and a Geography Department head; connected with Plastic Fischer and researched trash boom feasibility.

Results & Achievements:

One community clean-up was conducted and stakeholder discussions were initiated.

What We Learned:

Research and expert consultations built understanding of the technical requirements and feasibility of a trash boom.

Next Steps:

Organise clean-ups in more communities, strengthen partnerships and work towards a trash boom installation.
